Frog Garden
Frog Garden, located at the corner of Chippewa and Oregon Streets, has become the centerpiece of new streetscape improvements along Chippewa.

Frog Garden Frog Garden Undergoes Transformation
A little bit of mulch (50 cu. ft.), a couple of enthusiastic CBBA members, new plants, shrubs and oramental grasses and the Frog Garden, located at Chippewa and Oregon, has undergone a magical transformation.

On May 16, CBBA members Barbara Huddleston, parent support-Carnahan HSOF, Rick Schlatweiller, owner of the Jefferson Bistro and Rick's Automotive, 20th Ward Alderman Craig Schmid and CBBA President Betty Moore continued the planting and weeding that was begun a few weeks earlier.

Barbara added additional colorful, hardy "Missouri Native" plants to the flower beds, built last fall at Frog Garden by CBBA members. The plants were donated by Gateway Greening. Rick, Craig and Betty took care of the weeding, mulching and cleanup. Rick also pitched in to create a beautiful brick border along the planting beds on Chippewa Street while Craig added the mulch to give the work a more 'professional' touch.

As the worked progressed, a few local residents stopped to inquire about the garden after filling their buckets from the compost and mulch bins and offered to donate additional plants. The workday provided a great opportunity to discuss activities in the business district and make new acquaintances.

Slim Cox, former CBBA president and owner of Slim and Zella Mae's Furniture Store across the street from the garden, visited several times and was very appreciative of the new look.

We hope you'll drive by and check out the transformation at Frog Garden. For more information or to volunteer in helping CBBA make a visible impact on the neighborhood and to passers-by, please call 314-771-5212.

CBBA Pursues Library Branch at Former Hollywood Video
The former Hollywood Video store, located at 3740 S Jefferson, was sold through auction last year and has remained a vacant storefront in our business district.

With the support of Alderman Craig Schmid, CBBA members and supporters are leading an effort to encourage the St. Louis Public Library to consider operating a branch at this location. See
CBBA News Page.
